Alness Golf Club may not the most well-known Scottish golf course but it is defiantly a hidden favourite. As described by renowned Irish golf and travel writer Kevin Markham on his odyssey to the Scottish Highlands in 2015. Alness Golf Club really is a hidden gem. Offering 18 holes of challenging golf it tumbles through rolling terrain showcasing the natural beauty of the countryside beyond and the tranquillity of the riverside setting below. It offers an opportunity to escape from the pressures of work and life and engage in the ancient Scottish pursuit of putting a small ball in a hole in glorious surroundings. Alness homes a fantastic course with well-maintained greens, once only a 9-hole course, it was extended in 1997 to an 18. The 18-hole, par 67 golf course measures 4,997 yards in length. Alness can be a tough course; tight approaches require accurate shots throughout a round. The 14th hole is by far the most beautiful and the 18th can be quite difficult, join spectators and enjoy watching golfers struggle on the closing hole from the overlooking clubhouse."
